An Anti-Racist, Pro-Black Alliance United in Collective Liberation

As we work to ensure our scholars graduate college ready with pride in their racial, cultural, and personal identities, we must build an Alliance community that embraces diversity and develops pathways of equity across all lines to create a OneAlliance sense of belonging. 

STRATEGY

Anti-Racist, Pro-Black Integration

This comprehensive arc of learning is designed for all Home Office staff, Principals, Assistant Principals, and Deans, providing anti-racist, pro-Black learning and capacity building to help leaders develop their equity lens, self-awareness, and understanding of strategies to dismantle systemic racism.

Our training will support anti-racism by examining and acknowledging racial privileges, standing up against discrimination, and working to change personal biases. It also fosters self-exploration of racial identities, encouraging leaders to understand and reflect on how these identities influence their roles and decision-making processes.

Furthermore, we aim to build an inclusive community by embracing diversity across all lines and contributing to the network’s goal of creating an equitable environment. We will foster a culture of continuous learning, reflection, and education on racial equity, anti-racism, and pro-Black principles and strategies. Leaders will be equipped with the necessary tools and learning resources, enabling them to effectively integrate these insights into their teams’ daily operations to foster an inclusive and equitable community.

Network-Wide Impact

We are dedicated to providing an ongoing arc of learning for all staff members that explores, educates, and encourages reflection on their racial identities, as well as training to examine and acknowledge racial privileges, stand up against discrimination, and work to change personal biases. Through the learning arc, leaders will be equipped with the tools necessary to navigate daily operations in an informed and sensitive manner and ensure that our entire network can move towards becoming a more inclusive and equitable organization.

School-Site Goals

We will continue to cultivate the implementation of a DEI, anti-racist, pro-Black school strategy tailored to the specific needs of each school, including an annual audit to assess programs, culture, activities, and initiatives. Information gathered from these audits will provide continuous feedback and will be used to refine each school’s strategy and better equip teachers and staff to recognize and actively address patterns of inequity. This intentional and actionable approach fosters more inclusive and empathetic school communities.

Building an Anti-Racist, Pro-Black Community

In the 2024-25 school year, we will launch The Alliance Path to Anti-Racism Guide. This guide outlines our approach to becoming an anti-racist, pro-Black organization, serving as a resource bank, policy reference, intervention toolkit, and an arc of learning for Alliance. In addition, as a network, we launched No Place for Hate in all schools, a scholar-led initiative designed to create an inclusive school climate. We also held a Design Sprint for Black Women, where staff came together to create over 20 prototypes to address harm and enhance care and support. As a result, we will be testing three of those prototypes this fall: the Alliance Black Family Reunion, the Black Joy Book Club, and somatic coaching for Black women.We will also be partnering with our Latiné stakeholders to co-design growth, care, and wellness solutions across our organization.
